Dear Friends,

The power of prayer is much greater than any of us can imagine. When we pray we are reaching out in faith that God hears us, knows us and loves us. I had an experience with this power in January 1994 when I decided to create a booklet for the eleven beautiful prayers I had received through inspirational writing.

One night my illness, a lack of money, a stack of unpaid bills, and no job prospects overwhelmed me. In quiet desperation, I was lying flat in bed reading the prayers. As I read the eleventh prayer, "A Prayer For Receiving," my entire body suddenly started to vibrate. It was so intense that I couldn't move and could barely even breathe. After what seemed like several minutes, the vibration gradually began to lessen. I then heard the words in my mind, "Remove your glasses and open your eyes." I obeyed, and beheld a glorious golden white light that filled every inch of the room. As I lay bathed in that wondrous light, which was vibrating with the same intensity as my body, an overwhelming sense of peace and love came over me. In awe at its majesty, I watched the light for several more minutes until I was told to close my eyes. When I opened them again, the light gradually faded and disappeared. Three of the eleven prayers from my first book The Lines of Light are below. All of the prayers on this page were received through inspirational writing.

A Meditation Prayer

Besides prayer, meditation is a vital part of my spiritual practice. Sometimes, however, I resist sitting quietly. I think about all of the things I could be doing instead of meditating. This prayer helps me to center myself, to allow worries to fall away and to deepen my focus on the Divine Presence.

Dear God,

At this moment, everything within me resists the silence.
I am willing to break through this resistance and open my heart to receive your Divine Wisdom.
I surrender all that I believe myself to be so that I may know who I truly am.
As I flow peacefully on the river of Light,
I am filled with your boundless love and compassion that I must express.
I honor each moment in the flow and in Your Presence.
I listen as your gentle Voice guides me along my way.
I give thanks for your Grace, which constantly revives me.
In this moment, I am at peace with my soul.

And so it is,
Amen

Prayers From Mother Mary

In her messages, the Blessed Mother often asks us to pray as part of her quest for world peace. Below are two quotes from messages I received 10 years ago. They are certainly applicable today.

"My heart is heavy when wars take over and so many are destroyed. Praise God each day for each moment. Pray for forgiveness. Pray for Patience. Pray for the world. No one fully understands that God will not intervene because man creates the wars."

"Letters must be written to leaders. Prayers must be said each day. In world unity, all will be served."

The next three prayers are a sample of many that I received from Mother Mary during the 1990's.

Most Heavenly Father

You are all that I need.
All else is meaningless.

Give me strength to carry out my mission
as your child of Light.
Guide me in my daily tasks
so that I am always aligned with that which is Holy.

Keep me always in your arms,
for without your presence in my heart
I have nothing.

Awaken all that I am capable of understanding
and make my heart an instrument of peace.

Amen

Oh My God

As lessons of life enter my world,
reveal to me that place where I will find hope and peace.

I ask for the wisdom and knowledge
needed to attain that which I seek.

Give me strength to carry out my daily tasks
and to remain true to your Holy Presence.

Fill me with hope,
for I must bring forth that within me that often goes astray.

Amen

Mother Mary requested that all women say this prayer for guidance and love. As you read, keep in mind that when she spoke of family she often referred to a greater family: "Love God and love one another. Throw away the differences that separate you. The family of God is as the family of the earth. It is all the same."

A Prayer for Mary's Heart

Our Father

As I fill my heart with your golden light of Love,
I make a pledge to you as a woman of God's Love.

I promise my family and myself
that I will hold them dearly in my heart and soul,
and bring them peace.

To this, Dear God,
may you find me worthy of many blessings
for a long and prosperous journey
as your child of light.

My life plan today is
to move into a most holy place in my mind
to allow the opening
of a new space of awareness in my soul.

Amen

Prayers from The Lines of Light

HOPE

We acknowledge our need for strength to trust that there is a greater purpose for our lives when we say the Prayer of Hope. As long as we have faith, we have hope. But if we lose faith, we lose all hope of finding the peace and joy we are seeking. We know in our hearts that there is a better way to live. We ask God to lead us out of the darkness as we release our fears, for we know that only when we open ourselves to give and receive love, will we begin to walk the path of Light. We will then be able to reject the darkness of pain and sorrow, and open ourselves to God's blissful world of love and peace.

A Prayer of Hope

Blessed Master

I come to you a humble servant.

Through days and nights of pain and sorrow,
Through days and nights of love and joy,
may I continue to grow in my faith and my trust.

As Your Almighty Presence surrounds me,
casting out my fears and replacing them
with hope for a better world to come,
may I continue my quest for the purpose of my life.

Seeking the path of Light
and being faithful to the simple lessons of life,
may I live freely, surrounded by your gifts of love and peace.

Amen

FAITH

It is difficult for some of us to comprehend the idea that finding peace and joy is easier than living in a world of fear. Accepting God's Will as our own is to live only with love in our hearts, for that is His Way. Yet, when we see that so many of our brothers and sisters have chosen to live in the darkness, we wonder if we might as well accept that the darkness is the way of the world. But something within us keeps us going. That something is faith. When we know that we cannot turn back, no matter what happens, traveling on God's road becomes easier. When we repeat the Prayer of Faith, we offer to live our lives in God's service, knowing that we will be tested time and time again. We ask for the strength of a rock and courage of a lion to resist the temptations of the darkness. We also seek to internalize the gentleness and beauty of the dove, so that we may bring peace and love to a troubled world.

A Prayer of Faith

I ask O God for Faith.

As a rock is strong, let me be strong,
and to understand that the test of my strength
is in my faith that your Will is my will.

I offer myself in service as a channel for your work.
I ask only for faith to carry me through the difficult times
and, as it sustains me, let me not forget your Presence
when the easy times come.

As my needs are fulfilled,
bring to my soul the recognition that your Word is the only Word.

Without your place in my life it is meaningless,
and I can be of no value as a growing soul in this Universe.

Shower my body with the strength of lions,
and infuse my soul with the beauty of the dove.

With these things, I am your faithful servant.

Amen

TRUTH

When we repeat the Prayer For Truth, we ask God to reveal to us the One Truth that will help us understand the purpose for our lives. We know that we are part of the One Undivided Universe, and within the Universe lies a greater Truth than we have been able to comprehend. We seek God's guidance to begin to See His Truth, because we find that when we put our faith in worldly truths, life is filled with problems. We know that the Truth we seek lies dormant with our hearts. We ask God for a wake-up call so that we may know His Truth and accept it as our own.

A Prayer For Truth

Almighty Presence

I come to You as your humble servant,
seeking the Truth as You wish me to know it.

I seek answers for my very existence,
and for my purpose in the Universe.

I seek answers for my day-to-day problems,
but I must understand the purpose of my life before I can understand
my place in your Majestic Temple of time and space.

Grant me the ability to begin to see the Truth,
and assist me in my day-to-day world
to bring this truth alive in my life.

I ask for your blessings and your guidance,
as I search for this Truth within my heart.

Amen
